As a Mom to a new baby it can often be a little daunting knowing how to care for baby’s delicate new skin. Supermarkets are filled with baby products, but it can be hard knowing which ones to trust.
I have been taking part in the #Bepanthenprotects challenge over the last few weeks with Baby Mack. Bepanthen aims to protect baby’s skin as part of your daily routine, rather than being a treatment for nappy rash.
Newborn baby’s skin is 40% thinner than adults and is therefore more prone to irritants. Wearing a full and tight nappy is a breeding ground for nappy rash. Therefore it’s really important to help protect baby’s skin from developing soreness and nappy rash in the first instance.
I have incorporated Bepanthen into Baby Mack’s routine and apply a thin layer to his bottom after each change. His skin is soft, healthy and doesn’t show any signs of nappy rash or soreness. I also make sure that I apply some Bepanthen after his bath to avoid him becoming sore and irritated during the night. Then fingers crossed we are all in for a better night sleep.
I found the flip top lid really helpful and easy to dispense the cream. In the past I’ve used other creams that have mostly been in tubs, and I’ve always found them messy and would get stuck under my nails. Bepanthen is a lovely smooth ointment that easy rubs into baby’s skin without leaving it sticky or clammy.
Mini has Eczema so I am always careful about the creams that I apply to her and Baby Mack, in case he is likely to develop it too. I was pleased to discover that Bepanthen contains no fragrances, colours, preservatives or parabens. It’s also so gentle that it can be used straight from birth.
Bepanthen comes in different sized tubes. I keep a larger tube on Baby Mack’s changing table. The smaller tubes are great for fitting into his changing bag for using when we are out and about.
I’ve enjoyed taking part in the #bepanthenprotects challenge and have now made Bepanthen part of our essential baby products, Baby Mack certainly looks happy about this too!
