Exploring Birmingham with Children

For Mr Mack’s birthday, we decided to head out into Birmingham for a family day out. Exploring Birmingham with children is easy, there are plenty of family friendly places to eat, such as Jamie’s Italian. There are also lots of museums and fun attractions to explore, we are big fans of the Think Tank Museum for a great family day out. We are lucky to live close enough to Birmingham that we don’t need to find overnight accommodation. However if you do need to stay over, there are a whole host of hotels in Birmingham to suit your budget. We…

Emily Brown and The Thing at Birmingham Hippodrome

One of our favourite family shows of last year was The Snow Dragon, a Tall Stories Production, at Birmingham Hippodrome. Therefore we were really excited to be invited back to review this year’s offering by Tall Stories, Emily Brown and The Thing. Before the show there were colouring activities and crafts for the children to do. Mini designed her own version of what she thought The Thing was going to look like. There was also the opportunity to make a pom pom monster. We also bumped into the lovely family from Small House Big Trips, who were also there to…

Peter Pan Pantomime at Birmingham Hippodrome

A pantomime never fails to make me smile and get me into the festive spirit, and Peter Pan at Birmingham Hippodrome did exactly that. Last night we were kindly invited to attend the press launch of this year’s offering featuring an all star cast. Upon arrival Mini was desperate to have her face painted and chose a stunning Unicorn design. We were also treated to test out some highlights of the Hippodrome’s festive menu. I opted for the Christmas Dinner in a bowl, which was absolutely delicious. We took our seats and eagerly awaited the start of the show, which…

Cinderella on Ice at Planet Ice, Solihull

Having visited Planet Ice for a skating lesson this Summer, Mini was very excited to be returning to watch their performance of Cinderella on Ice. She is a big Disney fan and decided to wear her own Cinderella dress for the show. I was really looking forward to the show with Mini, being a big Disney fan myself too. However, Baby Mack had others ideas and was too unsettled for me to leave him for the evening. Mr Mack stepped in and took Mini for a Daddy and Daughter evening. I enjoyed hearing all about how much fun they had…

Gentle Caesarean Birth, Welcome to the World Edison

For those that have been following my pregnancy diaries, you’ll know that most of my pregnancy went very smoothly. It continued to go well, until the task of getting baby out, that is! We had discussed and agreed with my Consultant that I’d start having sweeps from 38 weeks. This was hopefully to help start things naturally and avoid being overdue like I was with Mini. My Midwife attempted sweeps at 38 and 39 weeks but was unable to complete to do it. Both times my cervix was still very posterior and very much closed. Talk of induction had begun,…
