Mini loves science at school and conducting experiments at home. She also loves to play dressing up with handbags and make up. The Project Mc2 Ultimate Spy Bag seemed like a great combination for her. The kit is in essence a spy kit that can be used for real experiments, hidden in the disguise of a pretty bag and make up kit.
As soon as she received the Ultimate spy bag, Mini was desperate to open it and set to work with some detective tasks around the house. I’m a big fan of toys that focus around STEM topics (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and encourage Mini to explore and learn more about how the world works.
Key Features of the Ultimate Spy Bag
- Finger printing kit. This includes a dusting powder that also doubles as a shimmer powder. This is used with the air blower, disguised as a perfume bottle, to collect fingerprints on special cards.
- Magnifying glass hidden within a make up compact
- A secret message launcher hidden within a pretend lipstick
- A Torch hidden within a nail varnish bottle
- Collection of test tubes and beakers to gather and store clues in
- Booklet with experiments to conduct
- All stored within a spy case disguised as a handbag
Putting the Ultimate Spy Bag to the Test
Mini loved collecting fingerprints using the special pink dust. She collected both of mine and Mr Mack’s and was trying to investigate who had eaten the last cookie in the jar. I like that the kit encourages role play for children and to help them explore scientific experiments.
Shortly after the Ultimate Spy Bag arrived Mini was participating in a dance show over three days. She took the bag along with her to rehearsals and back stage. It was a great idea as all of her friends were excited to join in and put the gadgets to the test. They all played great together, collecting each others finger prints and tricking the parents with the disguise bits of kit.
The kit is well put together and feels of good quality and durable. The make up theme of the kit is done really well and Mini has had lots of fun with visitors pretending to do their make up then surprising them with hidden intentions of the kit. There is even a secret way to open the kit to keep the secret of what’s inside safely hidden.
The Ultimate spy kit would make a good present as a treat for a birthday or Christmas, with an RRP of around £39.99, it has definitely become a firm favourite toy for Mini and one that she has enjoyed playing with over and over.
